The probation and suspension policy described below went into effect in August 2020. It applies to all degree-seeking undergraduate UofSC Aiken students, regardless of when they first started attending the university. Probation and suspension are based on the cumulative institutional grade point average (IGPA), which is calculated using only hours attempted at UofSC Aiken and other University of South Carolina system campuses.
The following chart shows the various levels of institutional grade point hours attempted and IGPA’s for both probation and suspension:
|1-35||Below 2.00 IGPA||Below 1.50 IGPA|
|36-71||Below 2.00 IGPA||Below 1.80 IGPA|
|72 and up||N/A||Below 2.00 IGPA|
The Registrar’s Office sends probation and suspension notices to the student’s permanent address and to the student’s UofSC Aiken email. These notices include all the information students need concerning the petitioning procedure and their ability to continue at the University.
