Dr. Hala Strohmier Berry joined the University of South Carolina Aiken, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in August 2022 as an Assistant Professor and the Director of the USC Aiken Center for Cyber Initiatives and Awareness (CCIA). Dr. Strohmier Berry received her Doctor of Engineering and Master of Science in Information Systems Technology from the George Washington University, Washington DC, received her two Bachelor of Commerce degrees in Business and Accounting from Cairo University, and received Performance Auditing Certification from the University of Connecticut. She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT). She has several innovations in Cybersecurity and Risk Management and enjoys programming, problem-solving, and solution architecting. Before joining the University of South Carolina Aiken, Dr. Strohmier Berry was a Computer Science faculty at the University of North Carolina Wilmington; before that, she was the founder and managing member of Strohmier Consulting llc an award-winning Engineering and Information Technology company headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia and main office in Charleston, South Carolina with operations in 9 states and focused on Cybersecurity, Governance, and Risk Management, during its tenure of 14 plus years, she served both Commercial and Defense clients and she was a member of the Board of Directors of AFCEA. Before that, she worked in the Telecom industry and started her career in the Assurance and Advisory group at Deloitte. Her research interests include the areas of Cybersecurity and Blockchain.
