Honors Program

Current honors students and honors graduates may be eligible for some of the national scholarship competitions listed below.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Barry Goldwater Scholarship

Scholarships of up to $7,500.00 are provided to assist with costs associated with tuition, mandatory fees, books, and room and board. This scholarship opportunity is intended for students pursuing a career in a natural science, engineering, or mathematics. Students must be sophomores or juniors and should be majoring in one of the following disciplines: chemistry, computer and information sciences and engineering, geosciences, life sciences, materials research, mathematical sciences, physics and astronomy, and psychology. Students interested in pursuing a career in research in medicine or veterinary science may also apply.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

A grant program that allows need based students to study or intern abroad. Open to undergraduate students receiving Pell Grant funding. Open to all majors.

Truman Scholarship

A competitive national scholarship for college juniors seeking a career in public service. Students may be interested in careers in politics, public administration, international relations, and the law. Applicants are required to demonstrate an interest in public policy. Fifty-five to sixty-five awards are granted each year, representing approximately 10% of applicants. Ideally suited for students majoring in political science, sociology, and international studies/business/economics.

Udall Undergraduate Scholarship

In 2020, the Udall foundation awarded 55 scholarships of up to $7,000 each.

Students should be sophomores or juniors who are planning a career related to the environment and the stewardship of public lands and natural resources, or be committed to a career that makes an impact on Native American governance, or Native American health care. USC Aiken students with majors in sociology, biology, nursing, or geology may be particularly well suited for this scholarship opportunity.

Boren Scholarship

Provides up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in underrepresented regions including Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Fulbright Summer Institute 

Three or four week programs for US undergraduate students to attend a University in the United Kingdom. Covers tuition, fees, accommodation and return airfare. For freshmen and sophomores.

Postgraduate/Graduate School Scholarships

Fulbright Grant

Opportunity for recent graduates and graduate students to undertake research, or a teaching assistantship, outside the United States. Grants can be used for graduate study. This scholarship opportunity funds graduate study, research, or teaching assistantships in a wide range of countries and is open to all disciplines.

Full cost scholarships to pursue postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge. Full range of subjects/disciplines.

Graduate study at a University in the United Kingdom. Open to most fields of study depending on the university selected (not MBA).

The George Mitchell Scholarship

Nationally competitive post-graduate award to pursue one year of study at a university in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Provides tuition, accommodation, and a stipend for travel and living expenses. Open to all fields of study. Candidates demonstrate exemplary scholarship, leadership, and commitment to community and public service.
