At the Winter Nocturne Concert on January 25, 2018, USC Aiken unveiled its new 9-foot Steinway D grand piano on the Etherredge Center stage. This beautiful instrument will benefit not only the students that study music at USC Aiken, but also the community that enjoys music through groups like Masterworks Chorale, Joye in Aiken, Aiken Symphony Orchestra, Aiken Civic Orchestra, and others.
This new Steinway was the first step in USC Aiken becoming the first school in our region to be classified as an All-Steinway School. By becoming an All-Steinway School, the University joined an elite category to which few universities belong, enhancing the ability to recruit talented students and faculty. Currently, there are only three other schools in South Carolina classified as All-Steinway Schools, and all are private universities. USC Aiken is the only public university in South Carolina to be named an All-Steinway School.
