About the Annual Concert

The Winter Nocturne has become a tradition to welcome the New Year with an enchanting evening of brilliant music.

In 2009, Ben Cox, a dedicated supporter of USC Aiken Music, began identifying and sponsoring acclaimed artists to come to USC Aiken in support of piano studies while offering an evening of exceptional performance to the Aiken community. Afterward, a hot cocoa reception hosted by Ben’s wife, Elizabeth Cummings, provides attendees an informal opportunity to meet and chat with the guest artist. The Winter Nocturne concert is presented at an affordable rate and students are admitted free of charge. All proceeds from the concert benefit USC Aiken Music.

In addition to the Winter Nocturne concert, the artist in residence works with current and prospective students, provides educational outreach programs in the schools, and shares a passion for music with many others.
