The Department of Diversity Initiatives celebrates these months annually:

Latinx Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15)
LGBTQ+ Month (October)
(Dis)ability Awareness Month (October)
Native American Heritage Month (November)
Black History Month (February)
Wom(x)n’s History Month (March
Arab American History Month (April)
Asian American History Month (May)

The Department of Diversity Initiatives begins each month with a signature kick-off event. These kick off events normally include food, entertainment, activities and the painting of the horse in front of the Alumni house (formerly known as the Pickens-Salley house.)

In addition to the kick-off, we host several other events throughout the month that inform the campus about the importance of these heritage/history months and the issues, history, culture, and successes shared by the relevant communities. These months also present the opportunity for students to get ICE credit (Inter-Curricular Enrichment Requirement-16 total needed for graduation.)
