Edward Wilson


MA, English, University of Florida, 1974 


He has been an Adjunct Instructor of Composition and Literature since 2015. He holds a BA from Eckerd College (Florida Presbyterian College) and an MA from the University of Florida with a concentration in 19th century British literature and 20th century American Poetry. In an era absent the MFA degree, he elected to do additional postgraduate seminars and workshops with visiting poets James Dickey, Stephen Spender, Richard Eberhart, and others.

He participated in Poetry-in-the-Schools programs in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, served as Writer-in-Residence at Auburn University at Montgomery, and has conducted many creative writing classes and workshops. He has taught at Georgia State University, Morehouse College, Augusta State University, and others. From 2004 through 2008, he resurrected and directed the “Spring Writers Conference” at two day, annual event at Paine College. His is a member of the Authors Club of Augusta, participates regularly in workshops, and reads his work enthusiastically.

His poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, The Georgia Review, The Midwest Quarterly, Poetry (Chicago), The Southern Poetry Review, The South Carolina Review, and others. His awards include an Individual Artist Fellowship from the state of Georgia, a Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship (Poetry).
